Spring is in full swing here in The Netherlands and this year its somehow feels greener and brighter than ever. Last week, we packed our lunch and visited the botanical garden of Leiden as it seemed like the perfect timing. The Hortus Botanicus of Leiden is the oldest botanical garden in The Netherlands and was founded in 1590.
It was a lovely sunny day and many flowers were in full bloom. The garden also houses an extensive greenhouse- including the biggest butterfly I had ever seen.
We sat under a tree, enjoyed the cool breeze and listened to all the sounds; humming of the bees, chirping of birds and leaves moving in the wind.
