Amidst the skyscrapers and big roads of the suburban area of Amsterdam Zuidas, lies a small and beautiful botanical garden called “Botanische Tuin Zuidas”. It is right next to the VU Hospital, so sometimes you see patients coming to visit the healing powers of plants.
The garden has several small greenhouses with cacti and tropical plants, as well as a Japanese section with different varieties of bamboo and bonsai. I believe the garden is mainly run by volunteers and the entrance is free.
Come and take a look with us in this special green place;
We had a picnic with my mother on the bench below. I brought cake and she brought rhubarb juice and strawberries. Such a lovely afternoon.
I am always fascinated by green houses.
The flower on the left below, reminds me of a bird.
Below, the paths of the small Japanese garden leading to the Bonsai trees. The little trees are so precious, they keep them locked. They must be very old.
Hope you liked this glimpse of this peaceful and green world.
